sample 11,19,20

well thats it posted off 3 more samples. As the samples get a bit harder I'm getting a bit choosier. will await with eager anticipation for Pauline's reply. I'm not as confident with these ones  as I have been with the others.
I'm still trying to get the rest of the Xmas presents out of the way and I'm now nearly back at work full time. Time is becoming precious again. I so want my time back at home but not with the pain that I had. I guess I'm just going to have win the lottery!

Post school summer holidays

It's been a while. We've had the summer holidays, in which I went to the beach most days, well, when the weather was decent, I looked after my granddaughter and I chilled. I'm still off sick. I hope to go back to work sometime this month. The operation has been a success to some degree but I still have some degree of pain and until I see the surgeon at the end of the month and get the all clear, I won't relax.
Crochet Diploma....well that has also taken a bit of a back seat. I have spent the holidays crocheting Christmas presents and dolls clothes for my granddaughter. I have now submitted 15 samples, well 14 actually. For some bizarre reason I can crochet a triangle from a point to a row but I can't work out how to do it the other way round, i.e. down to a point. I explained this to Pauline and she has very kindly sent me a leaflet on it, so once I get back into doing the diploma I will tackle it again. I just thought it was strange that I really couldn't work it out!. So far my marks have been a variation of Excellent, very good indeed and very good, so I am quite pleased with all of those marks. I've decided to spring clean my house this week, try and finish off the Christmas presents that I have started and then do some more samples for submission, then get back to Christmas presents again. It's creeping up far too quickly.
It looks like I may be going back to work for just mornings which will suit me. It gives me much more time to crochet. I am also doing an art deco cross stitch. I love art deco. I bought myself 6 DVD Roms of art deco card crafting so I'm also making cards. I LOVE CRAFTING!. If I won the lottery........I'd buy myself a wool shop and just sit in it all day, crocheting, trying to knit and cross stitching. BLISS (and not really wanting to sell anything) :)

2 weeks later

Feelings, slightly more human. I can walk further, which is lovely, I just get worried that I'll walk too far and won't be able to get back home!!!
The dressings are off my back and although it feels very uncomfortable its not really very painful now.
I sent off the squares that are now squares but weren't to start with!!!! and they came back with brilliant marks. Pauline was very complimentary about them, I had an excellent and 2 very good indeed remarks.
Waiting in a brown padded bag are now another 5 squares to go off for marking. Double trebles, triple trebles, quadruple trebles, raised treble rib and double crochet rib. It was a joy to make them. I wanted to carry on to the next lot but thought I'd better get these marked first in case I have to re do any of them. I feel fairly confident about them.
I have crocheted a baby outfit for a friend of mine, a scented heart and a set of cd coasters, oh and a couch cover tissue box. The tissue box was lovely and I'm in the middle of making another one now. I may give them as xmas presents.

One Week Later

Well, I am one week into recover from Spinal Surgery. It was the pits. 2 new metal rods replaced, plus screws, plus new rod at the bottom, plus a bone graft. That hurt the most. Recovery....well I'm off work for 3 months at the moment, hence signing up to do a Crochet Diploma.
I enrolled a couple of weeks before surgery and sent off the first 4 samples the day before I went into hospital. The way I crochet is a lot different from other people and from the way Pauline teaches her students and I was worried incase I would have to change the way I hold the hook and yarn, hence my need to send something off quick. The good thing though, is that I can hold the yarn and the hook however I like, providing my crochet is up to standard.
The results came back in the post today!!! Not good..... well, not bad but I just didn't read the instructions properly!!!!. How stupid of me. The first sample said it was to be a network of chain and slip stitch. I did a network of chain and treble!!!. How silly of me not to have read it properly!!!. The second sample was "very good indeed"!! Hooray. The third and fourth sample, which have to be resubmitted with the first one, was a really, really silly mistake. I had to send in a square of trebles and a square of trebles between the stitches. I did them, perfectly, except......in my rush to get them off before hospital, I didn't do squares! They were both rectangles. I couldn't believe my stupidity.
Pauline's letter was very nice, and she understood my need for hurrying, but how silly of me, not to have just read the instructions more clearly. So now, I am redoing 3 of the samples and making them perfect. I hope to re-send them off during the week for re-marking. The moral of my story.......READ, READ, READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS.
